THE PROBLEM
The user works a 9-5 office job, but is always open to making last-minute plans. They enjoy the outdoors and often find themselves going on spontaneous hikes with friends after work. The user has issues with finding the right attire for the office and the outdoors, and is in need of something that promotes mobility and is easy to clean.
THE product
The Escape Pants elevate the concept of zip-off hiking pants to fit into the office environment. They incorporate and improve on the functionality that zip-off pants provide to allow the user to escape from the office and go straight to the trails.
Research
Other hiking pants are made with breathability, durability, and mobility in mind. Unlike others, the Escape Pants utilize a wool-synthetic blend to achieve these aspects while still bringing style into the office.
Through user testing, inconvenience was found in the process of converting regular zip-off pants into shorts. They would get dirty after having to slide them under a shoe to remove them, and the user needs somewhere to store them after. The Escape Pants solve this by adding snaps to the zip-off pieces and by adding two large pockets for easy storage.
